Casa Del Mirto

They may be represented on the world stage by a geriatric sex pest but clearly things are not too shabby in the musical sphere down there in the old boot. Very of the moment, nothing revolutionary but definitely a classy exponent of the sub genre that dare not speak its name.

Robot Science

The ouevre of Robot Science is the kind of thing which makes machinery seem like mans best friend. Burbling and twinkling along like an overenthusiastic android pup, it seeks and finds the unrecognised hinterland between Midwest Product, Gold Panda and Ulrich Schnauss.

Download the whole album for a pittance at Bandcamp (pay the lad something though for godsake)

Keep Shelly in Athens

The nine thousandth blog to remark on Keep Shelly in Athens - Hauntin Me, so apologies for all those with KSIA fatigue, but it is exceptionally beautiful...superb band name to boot.

Gang Gang Dance

An epic and, superb return from Gang Gang newly signed to 4AD. Preposterous in length, it matches the bands sometimes contrary outlook but give it a try. High hopes that they will match 'Saint Dymphna' with their new album 'Eye Candy' seem justified if this is anything to go by.

Forest

'Druid Beat' thats the new genre that must be used to classify the wonderful but occasionally unnerving output of Forest. Pastoral beats overlayed with vocals courtesy of Willow the Wisp. Veering close to genius.

Minks

esoj is a bit late on the uptake with Minks but more superlative jangle from the Captured Tracks stable wasn't going to elude us forever. The label can do no wrong at the moment and this delight from the album 'By the Hedge' demonstrates once again it is the go to imprint for anyone wanting to recall hazy memories of halcyon summers past.

Alexander - Truth

I've not paid much attention to Alexander Eberts work with Ima Robot or Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros but here he's pulled off the best use of sustained whistling since eccentric lounge house Norwegians Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band recorded 'A Special Morning'

Palpitation-What If

There is a seemingly limitless supply of musically precocious Swedes and they invariably make supreme pop music unless Death Metal is their bag.

Palpitation continue in the melodious vein of Shout Out Louds, lovely stuff.
